E. Harold “Sandy” Black passed away February 9th, 2016. He was born on July 1, 1921 to the late Edgar and Era Black. Sandy was a World War II United States Army/Air Force Veteran, a cattleman, an auctioneer, and a retiree from the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. He was preceded in death by sisters, Alta Garner and Era “Tootsie” Goodner. Survived by his children: Roy Harold (Ella) Black, Betty (John) Boling, Johnny Black, and Nancy (Lance) Booth; Brother, William E. “Bill” Black, Sisters, Druzelle Ann Black Jenkins and Ola Belle “Polly” Black Kostelnik and husband George, six grandchildren: Shawna (Gary) Spier, Greg (Angie) Black, Jeff (Samantha) Black, Shanda (Eric) Powell, Kalyn Clark, and Jenna Jones; additional survivors include a total of eleven great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Thornton Funeral Home on Friday, February 12th from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM. Graveside services will be held Saturday, February 13th at 11:00 AM at the Stanley Standridge Cemetery with a memorial service and meal to follow at the First United Methodist Church fellowship hall.
